This autumn semester has been particularly special as we've had the honour of hosting Dr. Yimga, a visiting professor from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University — the leading and largest accredited university specialising in aviation and aerospace in the United States.
A U.S. Fulbright Scholar and Associate Professor of Air Transport Economics, as well as Chair of the School of Business, Dr. Yimga joined our Department of Aviation Services as part of the U.S. Fulbright Scholar Program. This program aims to foster mutual understanding between nations, advance knowledge across communities, and improve lives worldwide.
During his time here, Dr. Yimga has conducted teaching activities, worked on two research papers, coached a project, and spoken at international conferences in Tartu and Riga. Our students have found him to be exceptionally knowledgeable, passionate about his field, and well-prepared for his classes.
Reflecting on his experience, Dr. Yimga shared:
“Transitioning from the sunny state of Arizona to Estonia was a journey full of surprises, both culturally and weather-wise. I enjoyed experiencing the changing seasons, sampling the diverse flavours of Estonian cuisine (including the challenges of ordering food in Estonian!), relishing the unique experience of a true Estonian smoke sauna, and making new connections with locals.
I would describe my stay at the academy as “being in the right place at the right time,” having had the opportunity to participate in the academy’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, contribute to their accreditation efforts, and be part of the first international academic aviation conference hosted by EAVA. “
The faculty at the academy are extremely pleased that Dr. Yimga joined us for the semester. He seamlessly integrated into our academy and quickly established strong connections with both staff and students.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Yimga for his invaluable time and contributions at the academy, and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours!
