Accreditation of Prior and Experiential Learning (APEL)
Accreditation of Prior and Experiential Learning (APEL)
is also referred to as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
.APEL aims to develop connections between lifelong learning and different levels of study, as well as with the labour market. It is based on the substantial compatibility of previously acquired knowledge, skills, and experiences. APEL gives a possibility to recognize prior learning (incl. continuing education) and professional work experience for completing the curriculum.
APEL makes it possible to consider as a part of a program:
prior studies in educational institutions;
knowledge and skills acquired through in-service training or independent studies;
knowledge and skills gained through professional and other experience.
For example, if you have gone through pilot training and have flown as a pilot or you have worked as an aviation specialist you can apply for recognition of knowledge and skills acquired through professional experience.
APEL application is submitted in the academy's Study Information System Tahvel (Documents → RPL → Add new).If you need help with submitting the application please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Academic Affairs (ope@eava.ee, room no C101).
