Teaching in Lithuania – Yes, but virtually
Taavi is a lecturer in the Aeronautical Engineering department and he took part in virtual exchange thanks to Vilnius Gediminas Technical University’s (VILNIUS TECH Antanas Gustaitis' Aviation Institute) initiative. Namely all partner institutions were called for exchanging lecturers' competencies and enriching regular study process through virtual foreign guest lectures.
During the virtual exchange, Taavi met with aircraft piloting students from different years - the lectures on the Aircraft (helicopters) fuel supply systems (airframe fuel systems) were integrated into the 2nd year students’ programme and the lectures on the Automatic and programmed control of flight trajectory were provided to 4th year aircraft piloting students.
According to Taavi, delivering lectures within virtual teaching mobility does not differ from everyday work. “Students are still similar - here or there”, said Taavi. He highlighted that especially positive was the opportunity to familiarize with the structure and topics of the pilot training program in another country. Furthermore, the ways how to actively involve students in lectures were possible to be tested.
For Taavi, virtual learning mobility was the first experience as a teacher. However, he dreams now that the next mobility could be physical.
