This summer, the Estonian Aviation Academy's student team, Blue Sparrow, made an impressive debut at the prestigious international UAS Challenge in the UK, securing an outstanding 3rd place overall. Preparations for the 2025 UAS Challenge will begin in October, and we are excited to invite all interested students to join the Blue Sparrow student project.
What is UAS Challenge?
UAS Challenge is an annual international competition organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers since 2014. Its key objective is to develop professional engineers and inspire the next generation. Student teams from around the world participate by designing and building an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). Each annual Challenge cycle kicks-off in October, ending with a final event in June/July the following year.
"UAS Challenge 2025" info session
We invite all students interested in participating in the project to an info session
on September 24th at 16:30 in room B203. Members of the Blue Sparrow team, who participated in the competition this summer, will share more about the UAS Challenge, their competition experience, and team organisation.
The info session is open to all students! In addition to engineering skills, the team also needs members handling logistics, finance, marketing, and other fields. The only prerequisite is an interest in unmanned aviation!
Why participate?
Joining the project will provide you with:
- 6 ECTS elective credits (3 ECTS in the spring semester and 3 ECTS in the autumn semester) or, by agreement, 6 ECTS in a practical module (applicable for AM and CAM students);
- valuable teamwork experience;
- skills in collaboration, time management, and organisation;
- networking opportunities with potential employers and other university competitors;
- an attractive addition to your CV.
