The Estonian Aviation Academy is excited to welcome a talented and motivated individual to join our team as an Associate Professor/Professor of Communications, navigation, and surveillance (CNS). We are seeking a candidate with high-level academic expertise and a strong track record in research on Integrated Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance technologies.
Work Assignments: The Department of Aeronautical Engineering invites applications for an associate professor /Professor position in CNS. As a successful candidate, you will lead and conduct research in technologies supporting Unmanned Traffic Management Systems, drone positioning, collision avoidance, drone traffic, and increased connectivity topics. This includes establishing and leading a research group, as well as contributing to teaching through curriculum and course development. We encourage active contributions to other EAVA research groups and cooperation activities. In alignment with our general aspirations, the associate professor/professor will also focus on digitalisation and the green transformation framework of the aviation sector.
Responsibilities:
Lead and conduct research and development processes in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) CNS supporting other research groups in EAVA.
Contribute to teaching in the respective field.
Provide leadership to a research group and collaborate with other research teams nationally and internationally.
Foster research activities within the academy and seek research grant funding from national and international sources.
Supervise students and mentor early-stage researchers.
Expand national and international networks involving academics and practitioners.
Requirements:
PhD (or equivalent) degree in the relevant field.
Postdoctoral or international work experience related to the position.
Strong publication record demonstrating high-quality and relevant research and/or development work in above mentioned areas.
Track record of attracting and leading collaboration projects and competition-based funding.
Experience in teaching and supervising at all levels (BSc, MSc, and PhD level).
Participation in relevant international networks.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and in teams.
Experience in research leadership and coordination of research activities.
Prior experience in the sector is beneficial.
Language Skills: Fluent written and oral communication skills in English.

For the Associate Professor position, the gross salary starts from €42,000 per year; for the Professor position, the gross salary starts from €50,000 per year.
